Charles Brechtel Killed in Motorcycle Crash on O’Byrnes Ferry Road in Calaveras County
Charles Brechtel ID’d as Rider Killed in Calaveras County Motorcycle Accident on O’Byrnes Ferry Road near Duchess Drive
Calaveras County, California (April 28, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a head-on motorcycle accident that killed one person on Saturday afternoon near Lake Tulloch in Calaveras County.
The deadly crash transpired at around 5:50 p.m., on April 25, on O’Byrnes Ferry Road, just south of Duchess Drive.
Charles Brechtel was traveling northbound on O’Byrnes Ferry Road on a 1987 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he swerved across the double yellow lines into the pathway of a 2013 Chevrolet Equinox operated by Briana Mason, 29, of Davis. Both vehicles eventually collided head-on, the police said.
Brechtel was reportedly thrown onto the roadway due to the crash impact.
Brechtel was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident.
Mason and his passenger, Evan Gorder, 29, of Davis, were unhurt. They were both wearing a seatbelt at the time.
Alcohol or drugs were not believed to have played a role in the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
