Mendocino County, California (April 5, 2019) –A driver was arrested after a head-on collision that left four people, including himself, nursing major injuries in Mendocino County Wednesday morning.

According to a police report, the accident was reported at around 11:04 a.m. April 3, at the Green Bridge on Highway 101.

The accident happened when an SUV driven by a 65-year-old Carroll Johnson from Eureka crossed the yellow lines and slammed head-on into a southbound Ford Mustang driven by Kip Ford. Due to the impact, the SUV overturned and landed on its side with the back-end above the Russian River.

Kip Ford sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Ukiah Valley Medical Center following the wreck. A female passenger in Ford, Jennifer Ramirez from Fortuna, airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries. Another passenger in the SUV, identified as 30-year-old Amber Young, was also taken to Santa Rosa for treatment of major injuries.

Carroll Johnson Arrested after Mendocino County Head-On Collision

Johnson suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.

Johnson, who allegedly caused the accident, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The crash is under investigation.
