Carrie Nau Injured in Fatal Modesto Car Accident on Highway 132 near La Grange

Modesto, California (May 20, 2019) – The driver who was injured Sunday afternoon in a traffic accident that also left one dead and four others injured near La Grange has been identified as Carrie Nau, 40, of La Grange, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened just before 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 19 on Highway 132, just east of Hayward Road.

According to the CHP, a Nissan sedan driven by an unidentified woman was heading eastbound on Highway 132 when it veered into the westbound lane and was struck by a westbound 2016 Subaru sedan driven by Nau. The Nissan then veered off the roadway and caught fire.

The driver of the Nissan, who has not been identified pending notification of family, was unable to free herself from her burning vehicle and died at the scene.

Nau sustained minor injuries and was taken to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto. Four passengers, including three small children, in the Subaru, were transported to Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock with minor injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
