Carlos Sotelo ID’d as Man Killed in San Diego Skateboard Crash on Voight Drive near Engineer Lane
San Diego, California (February 9, 2021) – The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died after being struck by a vehicle while riding a skateboard last week Friday in San Diego as Carlos Rey Sotelo, 17, of Lake Elsinore.
The deadly skateboard accident happened at around 11:35 p.m. Friday, February 5 on Voight Drive, just west of Engineer Lane.
Authorities said Sotelo was riding his skateboard down a steep hill when he fell into the roadway and was struck by a westbound Nissan Maxima driven by a 20-year-old man.
San Diego Skateboard Accident on Voight Drive Kills 17-Year-Old Man
Sotelo was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
The San Diego Police is investigating the crash.
