Carlos Romo Identified as 77-Year-Old Man Killed in Costa Mesa Pedestrian Crash at 17th Street and Irvine Avenue

Costa Mesa, California (August 10, 2020) – Carlos Romo, 77, of Newport Beach has been identified as the pedestrian who was killed in a traffic accident on Friday night in Costa Mesa, Newport Beach border, authorities said.
The deadly auto-pedestrian crash transpired at about 8:34 p.m., on August 7, at the intersection of 17th Street and Irvine Avenue.
According to the police, Romo was walking near the intersection when, for unknown reasons, he was struck by a car.

Romo was transported to Orange County Global Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries about an hour later.
The involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the police.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the accident.
An investigation into the collision is underway.
