22-Year-Old Canyon Lake Woman Killed in Interstate 15 Collision near Railroad Canyon Road in Lake Elsinore

Lake Elsinore, California (June 21, 2021) – A Canyon Lake woman was killed in a collision between a car and a big rig in Lake Elsinore early Friday morning, authorities said.
The crash happened at around 1:16 a.m. Friday, June 18 on Interstate 15, just south of Railroad Canyon Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department, the 22-year-old Canyon Lake woman was driving a Honda Pilot northbound on Interstate 15 at a high rate of speed when, for unknown reasons, she crashed into the back of a semi-truck that was stopped for construction.
Following the collision, the Honda became wedged underneath the big rig.

The driver and sole occupant of the Honda died in the crash.
Two lanes of the interstate were closed due to the crash.
The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
