Cameron Pryor Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 180 in Fresno

Fresno, California (February 6, 2019) – The wrong-way driver who was killed Monday evening in a multi-vehicle collision that also left an off-duty Fresno police officer Phia Vang dead in Fresno has been identified as Cameron Pryor, according to authorities.

The deadly collision happened at about 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 4 on Highway 180 near McCall Avenue.

As per the report, Pryor was driving a 2014 Chevy Silverado pickup truck when he turned from DeWolf Avenue onto Highway 180 and drove east in the westbound lanes.

Pryor then crashed into five cars before his vehicle colliding head-on with a Dodge Ram pickup truck driven by Vang.

Both Vang and Pryor were killed in the violent collision. The two were the only occupants of their vehicles and were wearing their seatbelts.

Officials said three to four occupants of the other cars suffered minor to moderate injuries as a result of the collision. They were treated at the scene and transported to the hospital for further aid.

Traffic was diverted on Westbound Highway 180 for several hours while investigators worked at the scene.

It was undetermined if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. An investigation to determine the cause of the crash is ongoing.
