Calexico Man Killed in Crash on Highway 98 in Imperial County
84-Year-Old Calexico Man Killed in Imperial County Crash on Highway 98 near Holdridge Road
Imperial County, California (May 3, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Monday morning head-on collision that killed an 84-year-old Calexico man and left two other parties injured in Imperial County.
The deadly accident occurred just before noon on Highway 98, just east of Holdridge Road, a short distance from Bond’s Corner.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the Calexico man was heading eastbound when he allowed his Lincoln to drift into the westbound lane, and into the path of an oncoming Pontiac.
Unfortunately, the two vehicles reportedly collided head-on.
Man Killed in Highway 98 Crash
Sadly, the Calexico man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A female passenger in the Lincoln sustained a major injury to her left leg and was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center.
The driver of the Lincoln suffered minor injuries and was aided at the scene.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
