Lynwood, California (October 25, 2020) – The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has identified the woman who died in a multi-vehicle crash involving a wrong-way driver early Saturday morning in Lynwood as Briauna Ramirez, 18.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly five-vehicle accident transpired at about 3:05 a.m. Saturday, October 24, on the westbound Century (105) Freeway near Long Beach Boulevard.

The CHP said a 1999 Honda, driven by a 24-year-old West Covina man, was traveling eastbound in the westbound No. 1 lane of the 105 Freeway when it collided head-on with a 2012 Honda.

A third vehicle reportedly involved in the crash.

Ramirez, who was in the front passenger seat of the 2012 Honda, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other passengers in the 2012 Honda sustained major injuries in the crash. Two of them, a 28-year-old La Quinta woman and a 28-year-old Thousand Palms woman, were taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Downey.

The other two patients, an 18-year-old Coachella resident and a 29-year-old Coachella woman, were transported to St. Francis Medical Center.

The wrong-way motorist was taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood to be treated for moderate injuries before being arrested on suspicion of DUI.

Traffic on the roadway was stopped due to the accident. All lanes were reopened at about 7:25 a.m.

More details about the collision were not immediately available.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
