Blanca Duarte-Vidrio Arrested after Santa Ana Car Accident on 5 Freeway near 1st Street

Santa Ana, California (June 9, 2019) – The suspected drunk driver who caused a traffic accident that sent four people to a hospital early Saturday morning in Santa Ana has been arrested.
The accident happened at around 1:32 a.m. Saturday, June 8 on northbound 5 Freeway near 1st Street and just north of Highway 55.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Blanca Estela Duarte-Vidrio, 53, of San Juan Capistrano, was driving southbound in the northbound carpool lane of the5 Freeway when her vehicle collided head-on with another car.
Four Seriously Injured in Santa Ana Car Crash Saturday
Emergency crews responded to the scene and rendered aid to the four people who were in the second vehicle. The patients were then transported to a hospital with major injuries.
The names of the victims and their current condition were not immediately disclosed.
Blanca Duarte-Vidrio Arrested Following DUI Wrong-Way Crash in Santa Ana
CHP said Duarte-Vidrio sustained major injuries and was also taken to a hospital. She was determined to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision.
Duarte-Vidrio was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
No further details concerning this crash were provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
