San Jose, California (August 4, 2020) – Authorities have identified the motorcyclist who died in a traffic collision Sunday evening in San Jose as Benjie Gomez, 47, of San Jose.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of Interstate 880 Freeway near Highway 101 at about 6 p.m. August 2.
The CHP said Gomez was riding his motorcycle southbound on Highway 880 when he collided with a big rig.
Officers who responded to the incident found Gomez lying in the No. 3 lane and provided emergency care until crews with the San Jose Fire Department arrived.

Gomez was transported to the hospital where he died while undergoing treatment.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
