Rider Dies in Bakersfield Motorcycle Crash on Highway 99 near Highway 58
Bakersfield, California (November 21, 2020) – A motorcyclist died Friday afternoon after colliding with a semi-truck on Highway 99 in Bakersfield, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The deadly crash occurred at about 2:18 p.m. in the northbound lanes just north of Highway 85.
According to the report, a witness told authorities that the motorcyclist was attempting to pass or cut in between vehicles when they were hit by the semi-truck.
The rider was knocked off their motorcycle onto the roadway.
The victim died in the crash. The coroner’s office was requested to the scene.
Several traffic lanes were closed following the accident.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
