Bakersfield, California (June 16, 2021) – A motorcyclist was killed early Wednesday morning in a traffic collision in Bakersfield, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened just before 5:00 a.m. on Edison Highway, just east of Sterling Road.

CHP said a Ford SUV was pulling out of a driveway at 3615 Edison Highway when it entered Edison Highway directly into the path of a 38-year-old man who was riding his motorcycle eastbound.

The left front of the SUV collided with the motorcycle.

Edison Highway Crash Kills Motorcyclist

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported to Kern Medical, where he was pronounced dead.

The Ford driver was uninjured.

Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
