Driver Seriously Injured in Bakersfield Crash on Highway 58 near Chester Avenue
Bakersfield, California (July 8, 2021) – The CHP is investigating a major injury collision that occurred on Highway 58 in Bakersfield on Thursday evening.
The crash occurred near the Chester Avenue off ramp just before 5:50 p.m.
A semi truck reportedly rear-ended a white Nissan and pinned the driver of the Nissan.
Emergency crews used a crane to lift the trailer and pulled out the trapped driver.
Driver Seriously Hurt in Bakersfield Collision on Highway 58
The driver of the Nissan was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
No other injuries were reported.
CHP said distraction was suspected to be a factor in the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
