Driver Killed in Bakersfield Crash on Alfred Harrell Highway near Hart Park

Bakersfield, California (March 9, 2021) – One person was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Monday morning in Bakersfield, authorities said.
The deadly accident occurred at about 1:03 a.m. on Alfred Harrell Highway, east of Hart Park.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a white Acura RSX was headed westbound on Alfred Harrell Highway, approaching Hart Park, at a high rate of speed when it failed to negotiate a left turn.
Unfortunately, the vehicle veered off the north road edge, where it became airborne and landed on its roof on a pedestrian walkway about 12 feet below the roadway, the officials said.

Sadly, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Intoxication was suspected of having played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
