Aurelio Martinez ID’d as 64-Year-Old Gustine Man Injured in Gilroy Crash on Highway 152 near Lovers Lane
Gilroy, California (January 25, 2021) – Aurelio Martinez, 64 of Gustine, has been identified as the man who was injured in a Saturday morning head-on collision that killed a 57-year-old man from Gilroy in Gilroy, authorities said.
The deadly accident happened at about 3:07 a.m., on January 23, on Highway 152, just west of Lovers Lane.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 1990 Honda Accord, driven by the 57-year-old man, was headed eastbound on the highway when it drifted over the yellow lines and crashed head-on into a westbound 2008 Honda Accord, operated by Martinez.

Sadly, the 57-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Martinez was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
It was not clear if drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
