Spring Valley, California (December 17, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Wednesday night alleged DUI accident that killed a construction worker in Spring Valley. 

The fatal pedestrian accident happened just before 10:00 p.m., on December 16, on Highway 94 near Cougar Canyon Drive.

According to the CHP, the construction worker, a 27-year-old San Diego man, was directing traffic when a 1996 Lincoln Town Car, driven by Arnold Lee Patton, 69, of San Diego, entered the coned area and hit him.

The 27-year-old San Diego man sustained major injuries in the accident and was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

Patton was arrested on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter and was booked into County Jail for felony DUI causing injury or death and gross vehicular manslaughter.

The crash remains under investigation.
