Apple Valley, California (July 26, 2021) – A man was hit and killed by a car Saturday night on Highway 18 in Apple Valley, a local news source reported.

The accident happened at around 10:44 p.m. on Highway 18, west of Corwin Road.

Reportedly, the 62-year-old pedestrian was walking across the highway when a 30-year-old female driver of a 2006 Kia Forte attempted to swerve but hit the man in the westbound lanes of the highway.

Following the accident, the motorist stopped and called authorities.

First responders pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. His name was not mentioned pending family notification.

The female driver sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

The crash is being investigated by the Apple Valley Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT).
