5 Children Injured in Antioch Crash on Highway 4 near Hillcrest Avenue
Antioch, California (July 29, 2021) – Five children were among six people hurt in an auto accident in Antioch on Thursday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck happened shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Highway 4, near the Hillcrest Avenue off-ramp.
The crash was between a tan Toyota Camry and a pickup and occurred in the eastbound lanes of the highway.
CHP said the woman who was driving the Camry was trapped in the wreckage and had to be rescued by firefighters.
5 Children, Adult Injured in Antioch Collision on Highway 4
Five children aged between 2 and 11 were also in the car and got out on their own. A 2-year-old boy sustained a broken leg and was airlifted to a hospital.
The other children and the Camry driver were transported to hospitals by ambulances. Their injuries were minor-to-major.
The driver of the truck was uninjured.
The crash caused a closure of all eastbound lanes of the highway as authorities investigated the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
