Anthony Taylor ID’d as Man Killed in West Oakland Crash at 55th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way
West Oakland, California (January 26, 2021) – The Alameda County coroner’s office has identified the man who died following a Monday night traffic accident in West Oakland as Anthony Taylor, 40, of Sacramento.
The deadly crash, which involved two vehicles, happened at around 11:08 p.m. Monday, January 25, at the intersection of 55th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Way.
Authorities said a 2012 Jeep Liberty, driven by a woman, was heading northbound on Martin Luther King Jr. Way when it turned left onto 55th Street and collided with a 2001 Toyota Camry that was heading southbound, driven by Taylor.
After the impact, Taylor lost control of his vehicle, which continued southbound before crashing into a pillar in the 5400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way.

Taylor was declared dead at the scene by emergency responders. It was not immediately known if the Jeep driver was hurt.
The crash remains under investigation.
