The impact threw Rivera, who had put her legs in the aisle, forward. She sustained a broken shoulder blade injury. She is recovering at home and her doctors said football season would be over for her due to her injuries.

According to a number of Clovis East High School students, the school bus is regularly overcrowded, forcing some students to sit on the floor.

Rivera had reportedly put her legs in the aisle because there was not enough room with two students sitting in the same isle at the time.

Safety road violation and the possibility of overcrowding are some of the issues the officials are looking into as they are carrying out investigations.

An investigation is underway.
