Ana Segura Injured in Fatal Head-On Crash on South Avenue in Corning
20-Year-Old Vina Man Killed, Ana Segura and 4 Others Injured in Corning Car Accident on South Avenue near Michigan Avenue

Corning, California (February 26, 2019) – A 20-year-old Vina man was Killed and five others were injured Saturday evening in a head-on collision in Corning, according to a local news source.
The deadly accident occurred at around 5:30 p.m. Saturday, February 23 on South Avenue, just west of Michigan Avenue.
According to a statement released by the California Highway Patrol, the 20-year-old Vina man was driving his 2001 Honda eastbound on South Avenue when he tried to pass another vehicle
The Vina man didn’t see a westbound 2003 Nissan driven by Ana Segura, 32, of Corning. The Nissan drifted to the shoulder, but it collided head-on with the Honda.
The driver of the Honda died in the accident. His name has not been released pending identification and notification of next of kin.
Segura was transported to Enloe Medical Center in Chico with major injuries. A 7-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the Nissan, was taken to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento with major injuries.
Three other passengers in the Nissan, a boy, 4, and girls, 11 and 13, were transported to Enloe with minor injuries.
The CHP said two people required extrication and the Honda was towed as evidence.
As of 6:00 p.m. the road was shut down and re-opened just before 8:00 p.m.
The crash remains under investigation.
