18-Year-Old Alvaro Rosales Critically Hurt in Chino Hills Multi-Vehicle Accident on 71 Freeway
Chino Hills, California (June 14, 2019) – 18-year-old Alvaro Rosales has been identified as one of the five Victims injured in a fatal traffic collision involving multiple vehicles in Chino Hills Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The terrible wreck, which was reported just after 8:16 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, occurred on southbound State Route 71 at Butterfield Ranch Road.
The accident happened when a box truck heading south in the slow lane failed to stop for slowing traffic at Butterfield Ranch Road. The truck rear-ended a slow-moving black Ford SUV, then went out of control and struck the white Honda Accord driven by Mrs Moncada-Rosales on the driver’s side.
Due to the impact, it then rotated to its left, overturned on top of a Chevy Volt and collided with a Honda SUV, pinning it against the cement center divider.

The driver of the white Honda Accord, Moncada-Rosales and her passenger, a 76-year-old Moncada, were pronounced dead at the scene.
Rosales was rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in Pomona with minor to moderate injuries.
Four other people were taken to nearby hospitals with moderate injuries. Their current conditions were not immediately revealed.
The investigation is still ongoing.
