Merced County, California (November 7, 2020) – Alison Pernsteiner, 30, of Turlock, and Xavier Gurr, 31, of Turlock, have been identified as two of the three people who were injured in an alleged DUI crash on Saturday morning in the McSwain area of Merced County, authorities said.
The major injury accident transpired at about 4:29 a.m. at the intersection of North Gurr Road and Highway 140.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a Nissan Altima, driven by Gurr, was traveling southbound on Gurr Road when it failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection and crashed into a 2014 Freightliner that was headed westbound on Highway 140.
The officials said the Gurr’s Altima struck the big rig between its gas tank and the right rear tire, causing the truck to catch on fire.

Pernsteiner, who was a passenger in the Altima, sustained serious injuries to her abdomen and was taken to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment.
Gurr, who was determined to be driving under the influence, suffered severe injuries in the accident. Gurr was placed under arrest and released in the care of Memorial Hospital in Los Banos.
The driver of the big rig, Jose Garcia, 64, of Planada, sustained minor injuries in the collision.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
