Alejandro Barragan Killed after Big Rig, Pickup Collide on Highway 126 in Santa Paula
Alejandro Barragan ID’d as Oxnard Man Killed in Santa Paula Crash on Highway 126 near Peck Road Friday morning
Santa Paula, California (September 27, 2020) – Authorities have identified the man who died after a big rig collided with a pickup truck Friday morning in Santa Paula as Alejandro Garcia Barragan, 53, of Oxnard.
The California Highway Patrol said the deadly crash happened just before 10:20 a.m. Friday, September 25, in the westbound lane of Highway 126, just west of Peck Road.
According to a report by the CHP, Barragan was driving a 1997 Freightliner semi-truck westbound in the slow lane on Highway 126 when, for unknown reasons, the semi-truck collided with a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado pickup that was traveling on the right shoulder of the highway.
As a result of the collision, the big rig traveled down a dirt embankment and overturned in an agricultural field while the Chevrolet veered off the roadway.

Barragan was pronounced dead at the scene.
The big rig driver was uninjured in the crash and stopped at the scene.
Authorities said the two drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident.
The slow lane was shut down for nearly three hours while the investigation took place.
