Ripperdan, CA: (January 29, 2019) – A Firebaugh resident, a mother, and her daughter were injured in an accident involving two vehicles Friday morning at an intersection in Ripperdan, according to California Highway Patrol report.

The collision took place at about 9:30 a.m., Friday 25, on Avenue 7 and Road 24.

According to the police, 27-year-old Claudia Ledesma and her 6-year-old daughter Katy were southbound on Road 24 in a Ford Escape.

For unknown reasons, Ledesma ran a stop sign at Avenue 7 and drove directly into the path of a Toyota driven by Alejandra Arias Canela, 25, of Firebaugh, who was traveling on Avenue 7. The Toyota broadsided the Ford, and both cars swerved off the southbound corner of the intersection and into a power pole and concrete irrigation structure

Canela was taken to Madera Community Hospital with moderate injuries.

Ledesma and her daughter had to be extricated from their vehicle by firefighters. They were then rushed to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

The crash remains under investigation.
