Albert Arroyo ID’d as 1 of 2 Killed in Lucerne Valley Car Accident on Highway 18 near Custer Road

Lucerne Valley, California (July 9, 2020) – Authorities have identified one of the two people who died Friday morning in a traffic accident involving two vehicles in Lucerne Valley as Albert Arroyo, 37, of Nuevo.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the deadly collision happened at about 6:44 a.m. Friday, July 3 on Highway 18, just west of Custer Road.
A Nissan Altima, driven by Albert Arroyo, 37, of Nuevo, was heading eastbound on Highway 18 when, for unknown reasons, it crossed over the center median into the opposite lane and collided head-on with a Mazda CX-5, operated by a 69-year-old Lucerne Valley man.

Arroyo and the front seat passenger of the Mazda were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda was taken to Loma Linda University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. Three passengers in the Nissan were transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with moderate injuries.
The CHP said all occupants were wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision. Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
