Aida Villavicencio Killed after SUV Crashes into Home on Buckingham Road in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, California (June 26, 2021) – Authorities have identified the woman who died when an SUV crashed into her home early Saturday morning in the Baldwin Hills neighbourhood in Los Angeles as Aida Villavicencio, 86.
The incident began at about 1:20 a.m. at the intersection of Hobart and Martin Luther King Jr. boulevards when a patrol car was rear-ended by the SUV.
When the officers got out and approached the SUV, the driver sped off and fled northbound on Western Avenue, and as a result, a pursuit ensued.
The chase went through 39th Street westbound. As the suspect approached Buckingham Road, he lost control of the SUV while attempting to make a turn. The SUV then crashed into the bedroom of a home.

Villavicencio and another occupant of the house were pinned underneath the SUV.
Sadly, Villavicencio was pronounced dead at the scene while the elderly man was taken to the hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
The driver of the SUV, who was the sole occupant of the car, was also hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect, later identified as Eliseo Ixchopcalel, 26, was ultimately arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter.
His bail was set at $100,000.
The crash remains under investigation.
