Adolfo Sanchez Killed in Petaluma Workplace Accident on East D Street near Petaluma River

Petaluma, California (January 7, 2020) – Authorities have identified Adolfo Sanchez, 31, of Fairfield as the worker killed after a conveyor system collapsed on him at a silo in Petaluma.
The deadly crash happened in the 100 block of East D Street, near Petaluma River, Friday, January 3.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Sanchez and his coworker were dismantling a heavy metal casing for a conveyor motor using a cutting torch on the silo’s top when the whole system fell on him.
Fatal Workplace Accident on East D Street
Sanchez was pinned beneath the heavy heap of metal on the top of the silo. He was extricated by responding firefighters and airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with severe chest injuries. Sanchez later died at the hospital while receiving treatment.
Officials said that Sanchez was a 13-year employee of Lind Marine, a Petaluma-based dredging contractor that owns the industrial property in the location.
An investigation by the California Occupational Safety and Health Administration is underway.
