Santa Barbara, California (July 5, 2019) – A bicycle rider was struck and killed by a vehicle early Friday morning in Santa Barbara, according to the CHP.

The incident happened at about 12:40 a.m. on Modoc Road near Encore Drive.

CHP said a man in his 50s was riding a bicycle westbound on Modoc Road when he was hit by a vehicle.

The man died in the accident.

The driver of the involved car stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

The authorities are conducting an investigation into the incident.
