Norco, California (April 22, 2019) – A pilot was killed when a plane crashed Monday in Norco, according to authorities.

The deadly crash happened at around midday at the California Rehabilitation Center.

Authorities said a Northrop N-9M was taking off from nearby Chino Airport when for reasons still under investigation it crashed at the California Rehabilitation Center. The plane then burst into flames upon crashing.

The pilot, who was the only person on board the plane, was killed. The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family.

Nobody on the ground was seriously injured, but one inmate sustained scratches as a result of the crash.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the accident.
