4 Injured in Sacramento Pursuit Accident at Franklin Boulevard and Fruitridge Road; Suspect Arrested

Sacramento, California (February 23, 2019) – Four people were hospitalized Friday evening after a pursuit ended in a traffic crash in South Sacramento, authorities said.
Just before 5:20 p.m. Friday, February 22, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a white SUV near 47th Avenue and Franklin Boulevard.
The SUV failed to stop and a short pursuit started. The chase ended when the SUV slammed into another vehicle at Franklin Boulevard and Fruitridge Road.
Several other vehicles were involved in the crash, but it was not clear how many.
One person had to be extricated from their vehicle. A total of four people were taken to the hospital in an unknown condition.
Authorities said the driver the SUV fled on foot, but a patrol officer chased and caught him. The suspect, only identified as a 21-year-old Hispanic male, was transported into custody.
According to the authorities, the suspect was on probation at the time of the accident and had two felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant.
The intersection was shut down for more than an hour as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. As of 7:00 p.m. the roads were reopened.
The crash remains under investigation.
