San Francisco, CA: Pedestrian Accident on Grove Street and Fillmore Street; Female Driver Arrested

San Francisco, California (January 22, 2019) – A 74-year-old female driver was arrested after an alleged hit-and-run collision Sunday evening in the area of San Francisco, according to a local news source.

The accident happened a while before 6:40 p.m. Sunday, January 20, in the Alamo Square neighborhood.

As per the report, a 35-year-old woman was crossing Fillmore Street when she was hit by the elderly woman who was driving west on Grove Street.

The female driver did not stop to render aid, and she continued driving and crashed about a block away, near Steiner and Grove streets, where she was arrested. Authorities said that no one was injured in the second collision.

Emergency crews along with medical personnel arrived at the scene and attended to the victim who suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the collision. The woman was transported to the hospital where she was listed in a critical condition.

Officials did not suspect drugs or alcohol to be factors in the collisions.

An investigation is underway.

We offer our prayers to the pedestrian during this trying moment and wish the victim a quick recovery.

Motorists are required by law to decrease speed and give the right way to pedestrians walking in marked and unmarked crosswalks. It is unclear if the victim was walking in a safe area along the highway.

Investigations are ongoing to determine if the car involved had mechanical issues or system failure. Officials will also analyze photos of the scene as they consider if distraction, recklessness, drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.

The results of the case will ultimately determine if the pedestrian may have a right to file a personal injury lawsuit and receive compensation for his injuries and medical bills.
