2 Injured in Kramer Junction Crash on Highway 58 near Mile Marker 12
Kramer Junction, California (January 22, 2019) – Two people were injured after a traffic collision Monday afternoon in the area of Kramer Junction, according to a local news source.
The accident happened at around 12:45 p.m. Monday, January 21, on eastbound Highway 58, just west of Mile Marker 12.
As per the report, a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia towing a trailer was heading eastbound on Highway 58 and was driving towards a 2017 Ford F-250 pulling a horse trailer, and a 2018 Cadillac XTS was traveling behind the Ford.
The Freightliner driver, a 42-year-old male from Rancho Cordova, allowed his vehicle to drive into the westbound lane causing the driver side of the Freightliner to crash into the driver side of the Ford and horse trailer. The impact caused the Freightliner to lose control and drive into the path of the Cadillac, and the two crashed head-on.
The Freightliner reportedly came to rest partially on the K-rail and partially within the lanes of Highway 58. The Ford and the Cadillac were on the shoulder of the roadway after the collision.
Responding firefighters along with paramedics attended to the injured parties. The 52-year-old man of Lancaster driving the Cadillac suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. His passenger, a 69-year-old woman, suffered moderate injuries and also transported to ARMC.
The Freightliner driver and the Ford driver were not hurt in the collision.
Officials did not suspect alcohol or drugs to have contributed in the accident.
