Belmont Shore, California (January 8, 2019) – A pedestrian was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run accident in Long Beach, police said.

The fatal crash was reported at about 7:50 p.m. Monday, January 7 in the 5900 block of North Paramount Boulevard.

First responders arrived at the scene and they found a man down in the street. The officers said the victim appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.

Police said the driver of the vehicle involved had fled the scene by the time the authorities arrived.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by firefighters. His name has not been released pending identification and notification of family.

Police are searching for the hit-and-run driver. No immediate information was provided regarding the description of the vehicle.

The crash remains under investigation.
