Man Dies in Fresno Crash on Highway 41 near Ashlan Avenue

Fresno, California (June 26, 2021) – A man was struck and killed by a vehicle shortly after he was involved in a single-vehicle crash late Friday night in Fresno, the California Highway Patrol said.
The fatal crash was reported at around 11:30 p.m. Friday, June 25 on Highway 41 near Ashlan Avenue.
According to the CHP, an SUV, driven by the man, was heading southbound on Highway 41 when, for an unknown reason, it crashed on the highway.
When the man stepped out of the vehicle to check the damage, he stepped into the No. 3 lane of Highway 41 and was hit by another vehicle.

Emergency crews responded to the scene and found the man lying on the roadway. Sadly, he was declared deceased at the scene. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
A woman who was a passenger in the SUV sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle did not stop and fled the scene. The suspect’s vehicle was described as a gray sedan.
Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
