Long Beach, California (June 20, 2021) – An off-road motorcycle rider was killed Saturday afternoon in a traffic collision in Long Beach, authorities said.

The deadly crash happened at around 1:40 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at the intersection of Long Beach Boulevard and Wardlow Road.

According to the authorities, a 2006 Yamaha YZ450F motocross motorcycle was traveling northbound on Long Beach Boulevard when, for an unknown reason, the rider crashed into a Toyota RAV4 that was turning left from southbound Long Beach Boulevard onto eastbound Wardlow Road.

Fatal Off-Road Motorcycle Accident in Long Beach

Deputies performed life-saving measures on the motorcycle rider until paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The driver of the RAV4, a 23-year-old Long Beach woman, stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.

Authorities believed speed played a role in the accident, but distracted driving and intoxication were not considered factors.
