46-Year-Old Patterson Woman Dies Following Modesto Crash on Gates Road near Highway 132
Modesto, California (June 17, 2021) – A head-on collision has claimed the life of a Patterson woman and injured three other people Wednesday afternoon in Modesto, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash, which involved two vehicles, happened at around 3:29 p.m. Wednesday, June 16 on Gates Road, just north of Highway 132 and near the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge.
CHP said a 47-year-old Riverbank man was driving northbound on Gates Road when, for unknown reasons, his 2006 Chrysler sedan veered to the right and hit a metal guardrail.
The impact sent the sedan directly into the path of a 2005 Ford SUV that was heading southbound on Gates Road. Both vehicles ultimately collided head-on.
The Ford flipped onto its right side after the collision.

The Ford’s driver, a 46-year-old Patterson woman, was transported to Doctors Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her two passengers had minor injuries but were not hospitalized.
The driver of the sedan sustained major injuries and was also transported to the Doctors Medical Center.
Further details about the crash were not immediately provided.
Authorities are investigating to establish the cause of the collision.
