Teen Girl Seriously Injured in Whittier Pedestrian Accident at Penn Street and Pickering Avenue

Whittier, California (June 17, 2021) – A teenage girl was seriously injured after being was struck by a vehicle Tuesday evening at an intersection in Whittier, a local news source reported.
Just after 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, emergency personnel responded to a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in the area of Penn Street and Pickering Avenue.
According to the local news report, the girl was crossing the south crosswalk when she was struck by a red pickup truck that was turning left from westbound Penn Street to southbound Pickering Avenue.
The girl went airborne and landed on the roadway, where the same pickup struck her.
Major Injury Whittier Pedestrian Crash
First responders arrived at the scene and found the high school-aged girl semi-conscious on the road. She was transported to a trauma center with major injuries.
The driver of the pickup stopped at the scene and was cooperative, authorities said.
The crash prompted the officers to temporarily close the intersection of Penn Street and Pickering Avenue.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
