At Least One Person Killed in Interstate 8 Accident near Tavern Road in Alpine

Alpine, California (June 3, 2021) – A fiery traffic collision has claimed the life of at least one person Thursday evening in Alpine, the California Highway Patrol said.
The deadly crash happened just after 6:00 p.m. on Interstate 8 near Tavern Road.
According to the CHP, two vehicles collided for unknown reasons in the eastbound lane of Interstate 8.
As a result of the collision, at least one vehicle caught fire which spread to nearby brush.

At least one person died in the crash. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
One westbound lane and two eastbound lanes were shut down while the authorities conduct an investigation.
