Santa Cruz County, California (June 3, 2021) – Anaya Rocha Jr., 26, of Watsonville, was among two men who died Sunday night following a two-car accident near Corralitos in Santa Cruz County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened Sunday, May 30, on Corralitos Road, just south of Varni Road, the CHP said. The exact time of the tragic wreck was not mentioned in the report.

According to the CHP, a Ford was heading southbound on Corralitos Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control of the vehicle and drifted into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a northbound Honda.

Two people in the Ford, Rocha Jr. and  Jorge Betanco, 33, of Freedom,  were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, a 32-year-old woman, sustained major injuries and was transported to a trauma center, the CHP said. Her current condition was unknown.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected factors in the collision.

The crash remained under investigation.
