Fresno, California (May 5, 2021) – Authorities have identified the man who died Monday evening at an intersection in southwest Fresno as Fernando Gaytan Jr., 27.
The deadly crash occurred just before 5:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, at the intersection of Oleander Avenue and Pickford Avenue.
According to the authorities, a black Mercedes was heading westbound on Oleander Avenue when, for unknown reasons, it struck another vehicle driven by Gaytan Jr., who was traveling southbound on Pickford Avenue.

Gaytan Jr. was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving measures performed by medical personnel.
The Mercedes driver did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the area. There were no descriptions of the suspect’s vehicle or driver.
Authorities are still searching for the hit-and-run suspect.
The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call the Fresno police.
