Run Yan Yu ID’d as Man Killed in Oakland Crash on East Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue

Oakland, California (May 5, 2021) – The man who died Tuesday morning following a traffic collision in Oakland has been identified by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Coroner’s Bureau as Run Yan Yu, 70, of San Leandro.
The deadly accident was reported at around 8:23 a.m. Tuesday, May 4, at the intersection of East Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue, just east of Lake Merritt.
According to the authorities, a black four-door 2009 Nissan Altima collided with at least one other vehicle at the Oakland intersection.
After the collision, the Nissan Altima ended up in the 500 block of East Eighth Street.
Deadly Car Crash in Oakland
Firefighters along with the paramedics responded to the scene and extricated Yu who was trapped inside the wrecked Nissan Altima. He was pronounced dead at the scene despite life-saving efforts performed by the medical personnel.
