Deputy Hurt in San Bernardino Crash at Victoria Avenue and 5th Street

San Bernardino, California (April 15, 2021) – Two people, including a San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy, were hospitalized after being involved in a traffic collision at an intersection in San Bernardino Sunday evening, April 11.
The crash happened in the area of Victoria Avenue and 5th Street Shortly before 6 p.m.
The accident happened when authorities tried to stop a Nissan 350Z operated 26-year-old Dakota Fields in the evening hours. Dakota failed to yield and led the police to a pursuit.
Meanwhile, Fields ran a red light when he approached the San Bernardino intersection. The patrol vehicle, which was following with the emergency lights and siren on, crashed with a Jeep Cherokee in the process.
CHP Investigating San Bernardino Crash
The Jeep operator and the deputy were rushed to an area hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries sustained in the mishap.
Dakota Fields was later found near the crash site and arrested by police on suspicion of escaping.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
