Kearny Mesa, CA: 2 Seriously Injured in Car Accident off SR-16
2 Hospitalized after Kearny Mesa Crash off State Route 16 near In-n-Out Burger

Kearny Mesa, California (March 26, 2021) – Two people were seriously injured Thursday night in a car crash in Kearny Mesa, authorities said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident was reported at around 9:50 p.m. Thursday, March 25, outside In-n-Out Burger along Kearny Mesa Road, just off state Route 163.
The CHP said a dark blue vehicle was speeding southbound on State Route 163 when, for unknown reasons, it traveled across three lanes of traffic and tried to exit on the nearby Balboa Avenue off-ramp.
A Witness told the authorities that the vehicle hit its brakes hard before jumping the center median. The vehicle then crashed into a fence outside the fast-food restaurant.
Major Injury Traffic Collision on SR-163 in Kearny Mesa
Two occupants of the vehicle sustained major injuries and were taken to a hospital. Their names and conditions were not immediately disclosed.
The accident remains under investigation.
