Several Hospitalized after Placer County Crash on Interstate 80 near Emigrant Gap

Placer County, California (March 23, 2021) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of a major injury multi-vehicle collision on an interstate in Placer County Saturday afternoon.
The accident took place shortly before 1:30 p.m. along Interstate 80 near Emigrant Gap.
As per the dispatch, a truck with a trailer, a big rig, and eleven other vehicles collided in the freeway’s westbound lanes in the afternoon hours.
The initial report showed that one of the involved motorists was moving at a high-speed rate and spun out of control prior to the crash.
Due to the impact, one of the vehicles falls 200 feet over an embankment.
Major Injury Placer County Car Accident
Paramedics rushed several victims to an area hospital following the crash. Two of the patients sustained major injuries, while the rest were treated for minor injuries.
The wreck resulted in the closure of the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 for around three hours as investigation and clean-up took place.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
