Steve Pirolli, Stephen Jr. Pirolli ID’d as Father and Son Killed in Poway Crash on Espola Road
Poway, California (February 15, 2021) – A father and son who were killed in a car accident Friday evening in Poway have been identified as Steve Pirolli, 54, and Stephen Jr. Pirolli, 14.
The deadly crash occurred just after 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, in the 15000 block of Espola Road near Poway High school.
Authorities said a Mercedes was traveling southbound on Espola Road when a Toyota sedan, driven by Steve Pirolli, pulled out of the school’s north parking lot and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto northbound Espola Road.
For unknown reasons, the Toyota was broadsided on the driver’s side by the Mercedes.

Steve Pirolli was pronounced dead at the scene while his teenage son was taken to Rady Children’s Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The 19-year old driver of the Mercedes sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Palomar Medical Center.
Alcohol or drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover the funeral expenses of both victims.
The crash remains under investigation.
