Christopher Lee ID’d as Man Killed in San Francisco Dirt Bike Accident on Bay Bridge near Treasure Island Ramp

San Francisco, California (January 19, 2021) – The San Francisco Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died in a multi-vehicle crash Sunday evening on Bay Bridge in San Francisco as Christopher Lee, 20, of Beaumont, Texas.
Shortly after 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17, the California Highway Patrol officials responded to a report of a sideshow involving fifteen dirt bikes approaching the Bay Bridge.
When the CHP officers came across the bikes in the eastbound lanes of the Bay Bridge, the riders allegedly turned around and began heading in the wrong direction.
The riders reportedly exited at the Sterling Street and Fourth Street off-ramps and then traversed downtown San Francisco.
The riders then re-entered the bridge the wrong way on the Fremont Street on-ramp and traveled eastbound on the westbound Bay Bridge’s upper deck when Lee crashed his bike near the Treasure Island ramp.
Lee was then picked up by another dirt bike rider. As the CHP officers pursued the two, the dirt bike rider slammed into a median wall as they tried to escape from officers.
Due to the impact, Lee was ejected onto the roadway and was struck by a pickup truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the dirt bike was treated for their injuries before being arrested by police.
No further details about the accident were immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
