LaShun Curtis Killed in Head-On Collision on 80 Freeway near Pinole Valley Road in Pinole

Pinole, California (January 11, 2021) – 46-year-old LaShun Curtis has been identified by the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office as the man who was killed in a wrong-way car crash in Pinole last week Friday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Interstate 80 Freeway near the Pinole Valley Road exit at about 12:30 a.m. January 8.
A 78-year-old Concord woman was driving a Toyota Camry westbound in the eastbound lanes when it crashed into a Ford Focus driven by Curtis.
Curtis, a resident of Elk Grove, was killed in the accident.
A passenger in the Ford Focus was hospitalized with moderate injuries.
The unidentified woman who was driving the Camry was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek with unspecified injuries.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
