Stephanie Clauson Killed in Fresno Hit-and-Run Accident on Highway 99

Fresno, California (January 11, 2021) – Authorities have identified the pedestrian who died after being struck by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday morning in Fresno as Stephanie Clauson, 39, of Fresno.
The deadly accident, which was reported at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, January 9, happened on Highway 99 near Fresno Street exit.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Clauson was walking near the Fresno Street off-ramp from northbound Highway 99 when she was struck by a vehicle.
Pedestrian Killed in Crash on Highway 99
First responders arrived at the scene and found Clauson lying on the right shoulder of the highway. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The involved driver did not stop to render aid to the victim and fled the scene. There was no description of the suspect’s vehicle or the driver.
It is still unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
Police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver.
